Remote Training Software

What is remote training software?

Remote training software provides a range of virtual training experiences for people to make use of anywhere, any time, and using any device. Essentially, remote training provides a digital alternative to traditional in-person training, which can be more convenient, cost-effective, and scalable. It can also deliver more valuable experiences for all parties, both instructors and students alike.

Remote working has been growing in prevalence for many years, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic it has been greatly accelerated. Digital transformation has been sped up across the board, helping employees become as efficient out of the office as they would have been in a more traditional workstation setup. Remote training is as much a part of this as any other aspect of the workplace. There are several areas of training that can be improved with remote training, so much so that the need for remote training software will continue to grow long after the pandemic.

What are the options for remote training software?

There are several ways to train using remote training software, including:

  1. Cloud-based training: where the training process is conducted on a remote cloud-based platform, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.
  2. Distributed training: where the training process is split across multiple machines, either in a single location or across multiple locations.
  3. Federated learning: where the training process is distributed across multiple devices, such as smartphones or edge devices, rather than centralized servers.
  4. Transfer learning: where a pre-trained model is fine-tuned on a new dataset with similar characteristics.

The need for remote training solutions

With increasingly dispersed and remote workforces (and customer-bases) remote solutions are becoming more of a necessity. If your workforce is spread around the world, you can provide the best training experiences to your teams, wherever they are. If your customers cannot make an in-person visit to your business to see a demo of your product, this can be done online. However, remote solutions aren’t just for global businesses – organizations of any kind or size can benefit from their advantages.

In fact, people are so used to personalized, seamless digital experiences in other aspects of life that they now expect them in work contexts, too. The training industry is no exception and needs to deliver the kinds of digital experiences that meet the demands of the modern user, whether that’s for a salesperson or customer, instructor, or student. This includes catering for remote working and learning.

There is also the need to modernize. In a world that relies on technology more than ever, organizations have to be agile and flexible to adapt to unexpected disruptions. Virtual training solutions can help organizations achieve this by delivering a wide range of software experiences quickly and easily, with participants attending from a variety of different locations. Remote training solutions can tick many boxes that in-person training cannot and provide superior experiences across the business, and at every stage of the customer journey.

The benefits of virtual training platforms

So, what can remote software training offer that in-person training cannot?

  • Scalable and cost-effective – Where traditional training involves large, costly in-person preparation, remote training software can deliver better, faster, and more flexible experiences online. No need to travel to the session. No need to book a conference room. No limit on how many people can connect.
  • Hands-on training – Digital training experiences can offer virtual hands-on training that simply isn’t possible in real-world settings. Practical sessions in simulated real-world environments improve the value of the training as well as knowledge retention. This makes it perfect for software companies that want to train staff or show customers how to get more from their products. When training sticks, everyone wins.
  • Better experiences – Traditional training can be a static and sometimes unengaging experience, held back by physical limitations. Virtual classrooms offer functionality that can create more sophisticated and dynamic training sessions. Remote training sessions can be enhanced by in-app video, multiple viewing options, and much more. The range of the training services available is another key advantage in this area. Many remote training platforms offer self-paced, instructor-led, hands-on, SaaS training, certification, and much more – meaning that the scope of what’s possible is greater than traditional training.

Remote training software provides an exciting opportunity for organizations to improve and extend their training, demo and POC ability. The future of training is virtual and remote.
